About us

Welcome to MiKa, we are a humble family-run business based in Singapore, brought to you by Michelle and Kang. No prizes for guessing how the brand MiKa came about!

Being passionate climbers ourselves, we spent 28 years collectively dabbling in bouldering and sport climbing. We benefited profoundly from this beautiful hobby, forging lifelong friendships and relationships, creating bonds through this common love for climbing.

As with many things in life, when you truly fall in love with something, you hope to learn about it in all aspects, and also share it with the world. 

Being very hands-on, Kang started experimenting making holds from scratch, and our very first time dabbling in it was during Christmastime of 2018. Fast forward to 2023, and over the span of 5 years, sport climbing has evolved significantly, trends have changed, and we also gone through different seasons in our lives, growing together with the sport interweaved as a constant form of enjoyment to us.

In 2023, we finally manage to formulate commercial standard climbing holds. Like all start ups, we actually started making them in our tiny bathroom, stealing small pockets of time to experiment, fail and try again multiple times till we got it right. All while raising a 2 year old toddler and surviving on coffee most days. I’m sure some of you can identify with this hustle ;)

We witness changes in route-setting and climbing styles over the years. There was a rapid level-up in climbing standards worldwide. Naturally, it translated to higher demand for varied content in training centres and gyms.

We then realise what a big impact we can make through our expertise in hold production. We hope through which, we can make it accessible to as many people in the world as possible, and more people can appreciate the art of climbing and come to love it as much as we do.

This business is our way of giving back and sharing our love for this sport with as many people as possible. We hope you would enjoy the holds we painstakingly create from scratch and look forward to hearing from you!
